Hello from Venice (almost)

Well we have arrived in Venice. The last few days in Barcelona have been fairly crazy. We got the train in from madrid and it was a hell of a lot better than the train from Lisbon to Madrid was. The spanish countryside was pretty interesting to watch roll by and we had some food that we had picked up at the supermarket in Madrid to keep us going.

Barcelona is a fairly crazy town, you really have to watch your wallet as there are shiffy buggers everywhere trying to pick pockets and running dodgy shell games. Had a few times where dodgy guys were following us and trying to harrass us at ATMs but didn’t get too much trouble in the end.

We took a bike tour(http://www.fattirebiketours.com/) around barcelona with a group of American guys which was a really good way to see the city, the Sagrada Familia(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sagrada_Familia) was especially amazing to see but barcelona is full of cool fountains and wierd architecture and whatnot. That night went on an insanely sleazy pub crawl that we heard about via random flyers being handed out on the street but it was pretty funny. Wound up stumbling around at 4 in the morning trying to get back to the hostel.

Today we got the bus out to Barcelona Airport and got a flight to Venice. Once we got there we found a map and realised why we couldnt find the hostel we had booked online via the map in the lonely planet books….. it wasn’t in Venice….. it was in mestre……. shite!

Anyway it should turn out okay, its a hell of a lot cheaper than staying in venice itself and it looks like it will only take about 10min on a train and cost a Euro each way to get there. To be honest I have been spending too much money so far so it might be a blessing in disguise.

Okay well I am knackered, too many mojitos and Caipirinhas last night. Will get a good feed and an early night and get up early tomorrow to get the train into venice.

Ciao
